I've sent an email, mate. If we have to do it in
twos, then so be it.

Was listening to my Sahara cassette earlier. Halfway through the last track, the tape snapped.

Take it as a sign, mate. Once you've experienced
digital, you can't go back to the dirty stuff -
tape.
Then again, I recently calculated how long it
would take me to sample/optimize/mp3ify/catalogue
all of my tape collection (all 1000 of them,
2000 recorded albums), and even doing it 24hrs
a days, it worked at around 3 years, non-stop,
non-sleep. So maybe keeping the tapes - even
though the boxes are a really pain in the arse
whenever one moves - is unavoidable for now.

Yeah, I know what you mean.
I dug a few out for a spin. HoL, XYZ, Bangalore Choir, Spread Eagle.
Most of them haven't seen daylight for years.
Couldn't bare to part with them though.
Just need to make sure I don't break too many.

Sadly, tape, like everything else, including DVD
content (no, really), degenerates. It's just tape
degenerates faster than most. Most CDs and DVDs
have an in-built 25-year life span, but that's
rarely mentioned, of course.
